Effect of Tempering Temperature after Quenching on Microstructure and Properties of 20SiMn2Mo Steel

Abstract:
The influence of tempering temperature on microstructure and properties of 20 SiMn2 Mo steel after quenching at920℃was studied.The results show that the strength and hardness of the experimental materials decrease with the increase of tempering temperature.The impact toughness at 200℃is the highest,which is the best tempering temperature.The mechanical properties of Rm,A,Z and AKVare 1,550 MPa,14%,58%and 73 J,respectively,the microstructure of which is tempered martensite and retained austenite.The impact toughness of tempering at 400℃and 550℃is lower.Temper brittleness appeared and the fracture is characterized by intergranular brittle fracture.
