Abstract:
In this study, low carbon steel/high chromium cast iron bimetal hammer was successfully fabricated by liquid-liquid compound casting. The microstructure and properties of steel/iron bimetal hammer interface were analyzed by optical microscopy(OM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), electron back-scattered diffraction(EBSD) and microhardness tester. The results reveal that there is a good metallurgical bonding between low carbon steel and high chromium cast iron by liquid-liquid compound casting, the thickness and microhardness of diffusion layer are about 30 μm and 333 HV, respectively.
