Effect of Pickling on the Properties of Titanium Alloy Investment Casting

Abstract：Under the same pickling condition, the effects of pickling amount on the composition, properties and welding performance of titanium alloy castings were studied. The results show that with the increase of pickling amount, the thickness of brittle layer on the casting surface decrease until it is completely removed. With the decrease of the thickness of the surface brittleness layer, the welding performance of the casting is improved obviously, and the hydrogen absorption is increased. The increase of hydrogen content in the pickling process can be effectively eliminated by thermal isostatic pressure, and the whole process has no obvious influence on the tensile properties of titanium alloy samples.
