Abstract：A new type of modifier was developed to replace part of the alloying elements with high melting point stable carbides in order to solve the problems such as cost increase and shrinkage tendency increase caused by the increase of cylinder strength.The results show that the new modifier can not only guarantee the mechanical properties of castings,but also reduce the production cost and shrinkage tendency of castings.
