报告题目：Intermolecular Forces and Interfacial Science in Engineering Systems: Introduction and Applications（工程体系中的分子间力与界面科学: 简介和应用）

报告摘要：Intermolecular and surface interaction characteristics determine the physiochemical properties and functionalities of materials in different applications. Characterization of the intermolecular and surface interaction mechanisms (e.g., adhesion, friction and lubrication) of soft materials (e.g., surfactants, polymers, biopolymers) and engineering systems (e.g., stabilization/destabilization of emulsions, oil/water separation, bubble flotation, wastewater treatment, battery materials) has attracted much research interest over the past decades. In this talk, I will introduce the development of research field on intermolecular and surface forces. The basics of intermolecular and surface forces and the commonly used nanomechanical techniques will be also briefly introduced. The recent progress on how we applied these advanced nanomechanical techniques for quantifying intermolecular and surface interactions of different material and engineering systems, as well as for developing new functional materials (e.g., self-healing materials), will be presented.

报告人简介：

曾宏波为加拿大阿尔伯塔大学化学工程和材料工程系终身教授、加拿大工程院院士、国家讲席教授 (Tier 1 Canada Research Chair)、加拿大皇家科学院青年院士、英国皇家化学学会会士。获清华大学工学学士和硕士学位，美国加州大学圣芭芭拉分校博士学位。目前研究方向主要包括胶体与界面科学、高分子材料、分子和纳米力学、以及各种工程过程(化工、材料、自然资源开发和环境工程等)的界面现象等。其实验室能对各种复杂流体和材料体系中相关分子间和界面间作用力进行直接测量和分析, 部分仪器和实验方法为独立开发。已在高水平SCI期刊发表论文400多篇，撰写和主编专著一部。荣获加拿大石油青年创新奖，Martha Cook Piper Research Prize, The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering Lectureship Award, 加拿大化学和化工学会创新奖，阿尔伯塔大学工程研究优秀奖、工程本科教学优秀奖、工程研究生教学优秀奖和阿尔伯塔大学杰出导师奖，国际杰出青年化学工程师奖, 加拿大自然科学与工程研究理事会Steacie奖 (国家科技最高奖之一)等.
